Getting out of a paid Airtable plan is really about one thing: Airtable bills per workspace, not per account, so you cancel by downgrading each paid workspace to Free (or removing its payment method). The first thing to check is whether you’re the sole Owner of a workspace that has collaborators — if so, you’ll need to transfer ownership before you can fully delete your account.
Almost everyone is billed directly by Airtable through the workspace, so start there. Note that Airtable subscriptions are charged inside the app by workspace Owners — there’s no separate Apple App Store or Google Play billing to unwind.
Downgrade your workspace to Free (keep your account)
This is the cleanest way to stop paying while keeping your data and login. Airtable confirms you can cancel a paid subscription by downgrading a workspace to the Free plan while keeping an active account.
- Sign in and open your Airtable account overview.
- Under “Workspace settings,” select the workspace you’re paying for.
- Open that workspace’s plan settings and change the plan to the Free plan, following the on-screen prompts to confirm.
- Repeat for every workspace you’re billed for — each one is a separate subscription.
Remove the payment method
If you’d rather cut off billing entirely (or you’re about to delete your account), remove the card from each paid workspace so you aren’t charged after the current billing period ends.
- Open your Airtable account overview.
- In “Workspace settings,” select the workspace with the payment method you want to remove.
- In the “Payment details” section, click Remove.
Delete your account entirely (web or desktop app)
Do this only if you want nothing left. If you’re the only Owner of a workspace that has collaborators, transfer ownership first or the delete option won’t appear.
- Remove the payment method connected to any paid (Team or Business) workspace.
- Transfer workspace ownership to another collaborator anywhere you’re the sole Owner.
- Open your Airtable account overview.
- Click Delete your Airtable user account.
- Click Yes, confirm deletion of my account.
Delete your account on the iOS app
- Remove the payment method from any paid workspace and transfer ownership where you’re the sole Owner.
- Open the Airtable iOS app.
- Tap your profile icon in the upper-left corner.
- Tap Delete user account, then Yes, confirm deletion of my account.
Heads up if you’re on Android: Airtable does not support canceling or deleting your account from the Android app, so use the web, desktop, or iOS steps above.
What happens after you cancel
Downgrading to Free keeps your account and bases, just with the Free plan’s limits. Deleting your account is permanent.
- Removing the payment method stops charges after the current billing period ends, so you keep paid access until that date.
- Shared workspaces and bases aren’t deleted when you delete your account — remove all shared users first, or transfer ownership to keep them alive for others.
- Don’t see the “Delete your Airtable user account” option? Your account may sit under a Business or Enterprise plan managed by an org admin — contact that admin for help.
